Skaters bid farewell to iconic Center City hang-out (NewsWorks)

A city-imposed ban prevented at least three generations from skating – legally – at LOVE Park. Last week, this ban was lifted to create an opportunity to “come back for one more spin” till construction commences following President’s Day.

That it was illegal from 1995 on didn’t stop – well eh, all – of the skaters who reunited with old friends to remember ‘those days’ at JFK Plaza this weekend. . . . story continuers on WHYY’s NewsWorks.org


Ground Broken on LOVEPark Redevelopment [License PHOTOS]


Construction worker walks past Robert Indiana's iconic LOVE Statue, situated at JFK Plaza (a.k.a LOVE Park), in Center City Philadelphia, PA. City Officials broke ground for the redevelopment of the Center City Philadelphia, park on February 10. Incorporated in the design will be a renovated saucer, now housing the Visitors Center, better access and open sight lines.

Philadelphia city officials broke ground on the redevelopment of Philly’s iconic Center City public space at JFK Plaza, better know as LOVE Park. Renderings of the final design of Love Park, Philadelphia show open sight-lines from City Hall to the Art Museum, and vice-versa, as well as greater access along the park’s edges.
